Grounds Maintenance Worker

Postion Overview

This position participates in the performance of landscape maintenance duties throughout all County grounds.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Performs landscape maintenance duties such as planting, watering, fertilizing, cultivating, mowing, tree cutting, pruning, string trimming, edging, blowing, raking, etc. • Collects litter and debris. • Maintains landscape maintenance equipment. • Fertilization/herbicide application. • Irrigation system repair, maintenance, and upkeep. • Inspects grounds to identify problems or safety hazards. • Assists other crews/departments with special projects and/or events. • Responds to citizens’ questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner. • Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for improved ways of addressing such problems. • Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency
of interdepartmental operation and activities. • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

GED or high school diploma
