Full-TimePostion Overview
Under the direction of the Tax Assessor, the Real Property Appraiser locates and measures improvements constructed on various parcels located throughout the county, uses the collected data to establish property values, and provides the property owner with an explanation of the valuation process.
Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, accounting, taxation law, or a related field. An Associate’s Degree and three years of experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree. Must possess a valid Alabama driver’s license with a good driving record and be insurable. Must be able to travel and to work overtime, if required. Must have the ability to become certified within a specific period of time as an Alabama Certified Appraiser (Real Property Tract) through the State Property Tax Education and Certification Program. Must be able to attend and successfully complete continuing education courses offered through the Property Tax Education Program.
