Essential Job Functions
- Plan, schedule, & execute website updates and new features in coordination with stakeholders & design teams
- Conduct regular site audits to ensure accuracy, link functionality, & visual consistency
- Track & report website performance metrics using tools such as Google Analytics, Search Console, & Hotjar
- Ensure content &design meet web accessibility (WCAG) & data compliance standards
- Work closely with marketing, communications, IT, & content teams to align web presence with strategic goals
- Support marketing campaigns through landing page design, web banners, & other digital assets
- Provide internal support & training for teams updating web content
- Design branded graphics for the website, social media, email campaigns, & digital ads
- Create & edit visual content including infographics, promotional banners, icons, & image assets
- Assist with or lead the production of multimedia assets such as videos, animations, or interactive elements for use across digital platforms
- Maintain brand consistency across all media, adhering to style guides & tone
- Design responsive, accessible websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, & .net frameworks
- Maintain & update website content and functionality using content management systems
- Optimize website performance (load time, mobile responsiveness, SEO, etc.) & ensure cross-browser compatibility
- Collaborate with back-end developers to integrate APIs and dynamic content where needed
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, information technology, graphic design, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, & experience
- Experience maintaining websites using a content management system (CMS) such as WordPress or Sitefinity
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, & web accessibility standards (WCAG/ADA/Section 508)
- Basic understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) practices
- Skill in content creation, editing, & publishing for web platforms
- Proficiency with web graphics tools (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canva)
- Ability to troubleshoot website functionality, formatting, & performance issues
- Strong organizational & time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse departments & stakeholders
- Skill in communicating technical concepts in clear, non-technical language
- Strong attention to detail & accuracy in content creation & editing
- Commitment to maintaining security, confidentiality, & compliance standards in all web publishing activities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Comprehensive understanding of website design& maintenance principles, including layout, navigation, & user experience
- Proficiency with web content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Sitefinity, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1, ADA Title II compliance) & Section 508 requirements
- Understanding of HTML, CSS, & basic JavaScript for creating & updating web content
- Familiarity with search engine optimization (SEO) strategies & analytics tools to improve visibility & measure effectiveness
- Awareness of cybersecurity best practices for safeguarding websites from unauthorized access or data breaches
- Understanding of branding, visual communication, & graphic design principles
- Knowledge of public records retention requirements for digital content in a government environment
- Ability to create, edit, & publish web content that is accurate, accessible, & engaging
- Skill in using design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canva to prepare web graphics & imagery
- Strong proofreading, grammar, & editing skills to ensure professional and consistent content
- Proficiency in managing multiple projects, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines
- Competence in troubleshooting website errors & performance issues
- Effective collaboration & communication skills for working with IT staff, communications personnel, & other departments
- Maintain & update website content in accordance with legal, accessibility, & organizational requirements
- Translate technical & complex information into clear, easy-to-understand language for the public
- Quickly learn & adapt to new web technologies, CMS platforms, & software tools
- Identify & resolve outdated content, broken links, & formatting inconsistencies
- Uphold confidentiality & security standards in all web publishing activities
- Apply creative thinking to improve website usability, navigation, & overall presentation
