Postion Overview

Essential Job Functions

  1. Plan, schedule, & execute website updates and new features in coordination with stakeholders & design teams
  2. Conduct regular site audits to ensure accuracy, link functionality, & visual consistency
  3. Track & report website performance metrics using tools such as Google Analytics, Search Console, & Hotjar
  4. Ensure content &design meet web accessibility (WCAG) & data compliance standards
  5. Work closely with marketing, communications, IT, & content teams to align web presence with strategic goals
  6. Support marketing campaigns through landing page design, web banners, & other digital assets
  7. Provide internal support & training for teams updating web content
  8. Design branded graphics for the website, social media, email campaigns, & digital ads
  9. Create & edit visual content including infographics, promotional banners, icons, & image assets
  10. Assist with or lead the production of multimedia assets such as videos, animations, or interactive elements for use across digital platforms
  11. Maintain brand consistency across all media, adhering to style guides & tone
  12. Design responsive, accessible websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, & .net frameworks
  13. Maintain & update website content and functionality using content management systems
  14. Optimize website performance (load time, mobile responsiveness, SEO, etc.) & ensure cross-browser compatibility
  15. Collaborate with back-end developers to integrate APIs and dynamic content where needed

Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in communications, information technology, graphic design, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, & experience
  2. Experience maintaining websites using a content management system (CMS) such as WordPress or Sitefinity
  3. Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, & web accessibility standards (WCAG/ADA/Section 508)
  4. Basic understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) practices
  5. Skill in content creation, editing, & publishing for web platforms
  6. Proficiency with web graphics tools (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canva)
  7. Ability to troubleshoot website functionality, formatting, & performance issues
  8. Strong organizational & time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  9. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse departments & stakeholders
  10. Skill in communicating technical concepts in clear, non-technical language
  11. Strong attention to detail & accuracy in content creation & editing
  12. Commitment to maintaining security, confidentiality, & compliance standards in all web publishing activities

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Comprehensive understanding of website design& maintenance principles, including layout, navigation, & user experience
  2. Proficiency with web content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Sitefinity, or similar platforms
  3. Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1, ADA Title II compliance) & Section 508 requirements
  4. Understanding of HTML, CSS, & basic JavaScript for creating & updating web content
  5. Familiarity with search engine optimization (SEO) strategies & analytics tools to improve visibility & measure effectiveness
  6. Awareness of cybersecurity best practices for safeguarding websites from unauthorized access or data breaches
  7. Understanding of branding, visual communication, & graphic design principles
  8. Knowledge of public records retention requirements for digital content in a government environment
  9. Ability to create, edit, & publish web content that is accurate, accessible, & engaging
  10. Skill in using design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canva to prepare web graphics & imagery
  11. Strong proofreading, grammar, & editing skills to ensure professional and consistent content
  12. Proficiency in managing multiple projects, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines
  13. Competence in troubleshooting website errors & performance issues
  14. Effective collaboration & communication skills for working with IT staff, communications personnel, & other departments
  15. Maintain & update website content in accordance with legal, accessibility, & organizational requirements
  16. Translate technical & complex information into clear, easy-to-understand language for the public
  17. Quickly learn & adapt to new web technologies, CMS platforms, & software tools
  18. Identify & resolve outdated content, broken links, & formatting inconsistencies
  19. Uphold confidentiality & security standards in all web publishing activities
  20. Apply creative thinking to improve website usability, navigation, & overall presentation
