Equipment Operator
Dallas County Commission has an opening for a Full-Time Equipment Operator.
The Equipment Operator will operate various types of equipment to maintain, repair, and pave county roads and bridges. Equipment types include, but are not limited to, a tractor/bushhog, rotary side cutter, compactor, power broom, back-hoe, self-propelled tire roller and steel wheel roller, bulldozer, front-end loader, low-boy trailer, excavator, and motor grader. It is not necessary to have experience operating all of these types of equipment. Salary will be based on experience and skill level.
- Applicant must be able to endure extreme outdoor weather conditions at times.
- Applicant must be aware of safety rules involved in the operation of equipment on heavily traveled roads.
- Applicant must possess the ability to read and write and to understand road maps.
- Applicant must possess a valid State of Alabama Driver’s License and be insurable by the county insurance carrier.
- Applicant must have the ability to follow instructions and work well with others.
Position also involves some unskilled labor on a daily basis and will involve call-out during periods of inclement weather, especially following storms or other natural disasters.
